Station S36
|
Gyre arrived on Station S36 at 7:36 GMT on June 12, 2000 and we completed all of the sampling at 00:25 GMT on June 13, 2000. Station S36 is 1845 meters in depth. The images taken by the underwater digital camera included worms, a skate, and sea stars. While bringing in the trawl we had the pleasure of watching a sperm whale blowing and, eventually, diving down. The trawl net was brought on board at sunset and the attached photo (A) features Archie Ammons inspecting one of the sea urchins caught in the trawl. The other attached photo (B) portrays Chris Gudeman who is not waiting for one of the big chaceon crabs from the trawl to be cooked up by our talented steward. |
