Stephen Sweet

Research Associate and Manager of the Sample Control Group

Mr. Sweet received his MS in Chemical Oceanography from Texas A&M University in 1988. He has extensive experience in the characterization of environmental samples using a suite of analytical techniques and has over 60 publications and presentations. He has a strong background in general analytical instrumentation, data validation, data interpretation, and quality assurance protocols. Mr. Sweet has been involved in many field programs including United States Antarctic Program environmental monitoring and assessment programs, atmospheric deposition programs, EMAP Louisiana Province Field Monitoring Program, and in support of a multitude of oceanographic and environmental research programs. His research interests include atmospheric deposition of nutrients and trace organics, gas hydrates, bile metabolites, photosynthetic pigments, organic contaminants, and environmental monitoring and assessment. As manager of the Sample Control Group, Mr. Sweet ensures that its operations are consistent with the GERG quality assurance program, operational schedules are in control, and methods are applied in concordance with the standard operating procedures.
