Station B2
|
GYRE arrived on Station B2 at 3:02 GMT on May 12, 2000 and finished all sampling at 20:48 GMT on May 12, 2000. This station is located in Beaumont Basin at depths of 2600 The 12 bottle rosette was deployed only once due to time constraints. We are still without a pinger so the digital underwater camera was not deployed at this station or the previous station. The trawl brought up deep sea tube worms (pogonophorans) and we found a shrimp, possibly Alvinocaris, in the plankton net that was attached behind the trawl net. Alvinocaris is often found associated with chemosynthetic fauna in the Gulf of Mexico. |
